“For Tulsa Opera’s 2011-2012 Opera on Tour! program, we sought a short opera that was tuneful, was accessible to elementary-aged students, included a student-participation component and had a captivating storyline. We found all of this in Malcolm Fox’s The Silence Tree. The story is charming and presents a valuable lesson in standing up for one’s own beliefs. The music is melody-driven, with lyrics that are clear and concise. In short, this is the perfect piece for our tour. We are delighted to be giving it its second American production.” |
